HOUSE MOUSE, SENATE MOUSE

By Peter W. Barnes and Cheryl Shaw Barnes

While the US is in election mode, this is a good time to introduce children to how laws are made in this country. House Mouse, Senate Mouse uses rhyming verse with mice as characters to explain the process.

A second-grade class in Missouri writes to Congress with an idea for a law to declare National Cheese Day. The book shows how it’s not easy for everyone to agree on an important issue. But, after discussions, a vote is taken which American cheese will be the National Cheese.
