Judson W. Lyons (1860-1924) was the 2nd African American Register of the United States Treasury, appointed by President William McKinley 1898-1906.
One of America’s highest ranking African American government leaders at the time. Lyons’ signature appears on many notes during that period, including the 1899 $5 Silver Certificate commonly called Chief, Running Antelope, or Onepapa for the center engraving.
