Eric Velasquez gives an account of the summers of his youth spent with his Grandmother listening to her favorite records. This music connected her to her home country, to her family, and to her Afro-Puerto Rican roots. When the author got older, he bought his Grandmother the Brazilian, Jazz, and Rap music he listened to. The book is a reminder of how music can guide you toward memories, places, people, and action.
