March: Book One
By John Lewis, Andrew Aydin, and Nate Powell
MARCH: Book One is the first graphic novel in a series by civil rights icon John Lewis. It is a must not only for young folks, but for older folks who want to learn about the civil rights movement, too. Lewis, a civil rights activist from a young age, served in the United States House of Representatives and was the chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee from 1963 to 1966. Through his experiences, we see how meeting Martin Luther King Jr. changed his life and inspired him to fight for equality not just for African-Americans, but for all.
