Dr Cheryl Wu

Cheryl WuDr Cheryl Wu is a pediatrician and the founder of Amaranth Pediatrics, located in Chinatown, Manhattan. Prior to that Dr. Wu worked in the pediatric emergency departments of Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, Joseph M Sanzari Children’s Hospital at Hackensack University Medical Center, and Winthrop Medical Center. In addition, she was the staff pediatrician at Ryan-NENA Community Health Center, which serves the Latinx and Black families of the Lower East Side, as well as Premiere HealthCare at YAI, an organization that serves adults and children with developmental disabilities and chronic medical problems.
  • Dr Wu is a co-founder of Families for Real Equity in Education (FREE), a grassroots organization led by parent leaders that fights for full integration of NYC public schools.
  • She also runs Underground N95, an organization that supplies much needed PPE to healthcare workers in the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic, then to educators in NYC as schools began to reopen.
  • She is currently working on a research project with a pediatric colleague on the mental health impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, and developing the tools to help children understand Covid-19 to reduce fears and anxieties.
She received a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology & Biochemistry from Rutgers College (with Phi Beta Kappa), and received a Medical Doctorate from the New Jersey Medical School at Rutgers.
Dr. Wu is a clinical attending physician at NYU Langone Medical Center, and is a board member of the North American Taiwanese Medical Association-Greater New York Chapter.
She is also a member of the Coalition of Asian-American Independent Practice Association, as well as the Chinese American Medical Society.
Cheryl is a single mother.
