Biography

David A. Taylor serves as Treasurer of the Bronx Community College Auxiliary Enterprises and Student Association corporations.  Mr. Taylor is a senior higher education executive with expertise in organizational development, budgeting and strategic planning, enterprise risk management, compliance, and the overall oversight of campus operations, and facilities management and campus safety on the landmark, historic campus of Bronx Community College (BCC).

His career path of over 35 years in public sector finance reflects a long commitment to municipal, public school and higher education administration.  David has served in several administrative, management, and leadership roles that span New York City’s Office of Management and Budget, the NYC Board of Education, and the City University of New York (CUNY) public two-year community college and four-year senior college campuses.

During his career, David worked as the Vice President of Administration & Finance at York and Medgar Evers Colleges during times of unstable fiscal outlook caused by reductions in tuition revenue and state funding.  Mr. Taylor was able to minimize the negative impact on teaching and learning, stabilize the budget, and position the institutions for future growth.

David Taylor is an enthusiastic and dedicated leader with a steadfast commitment to supporting the teaching and learning enterprise through collaboration and positive interaction with students, faculty, administrators, and staff.

David was born in Bridgetown, Barbados, West Indies and emigrated to Brooklyn with his parents at age six. David sees himself as an example of the success one can attain by a public education, being a product of the New York City public schools and the City University of New York higher education systems.  His career in the public sector has been one of giving back to those systems that educated, provided a meaningful career, and encouraged civic participation. David holds a Masters of Business Administration and Policy from Baruch College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Brooklyn College.

David sits on the Board of the National Council of Black American Affairs, a council of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), and the Board of the New 3RS, a Not-For-Profit organization that tackles racial bias through its curriculum of Black History, while also teaching Responsive Philanthropy.
