The First Black Nurse – Nancy Leftenant-Colon Major

Nancy Leftenant-Colon Major (retired). The first black nurse in the reserve or active-duty Army Nurse Corps. The only woman to hold the presidency of the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. from 1989 – 1991. Along with select Tuskegee Airmen, received the Congressional Gold Medal from President George W. Bush on March 29, 2007.
